The book “ANDROMEDA STRAIN” compared with the article Bird flu  from the

      Italian newspaper “Corriere della sera”

We found this newspaper article from “Corriere della sera” and compared it with the book “Andromeda” about a similar argument. Then we analysed them looking for similarities and differences.
First at all there are discussions between scientists both in the article and in the book. In fact they discuss about virus research, but, while in the book the problem and the studying are kept secret by the scientists, in the real world it’s public and you can get information about them in newspapers (like in this article), on television and on-line too.
Another similarity is that there are a lot of experimentations to understand the virus’ behaviour in Crichton’s story, as in the reality. Actually some scientists are afraid of the HPV virus because it may cause a sense of false safety, especially for teenagers as it induces them to wrong behaviours. Instead in the book the scientists know exactly what the virus effects are: it provokes an instantly death or folly. In both the descriptions the virus hits small and poor or isolated villages and is used a complex and expensive technology. It serves to study the virus but it is insufficient to prevent its diffusion.
