First opinions after reading: One thing that may get us interested was the continuous help of the author to allow the understanding of the situation and the constant Crichton’s “giving signs” as in page 202, “Burton didn’t submit to the autopsy mice treated with the anticoagulant”. This because the reader could express some hypotheses directed by the author. It’s interesting to understand how this novel has a theme like this for these years (the 70s) and one of the things that we found in the book and that appeared immediately important was the hypothesis expressed by the scientists concerning the formation, the provenience and the development of this new illness that could destroy the world, for example at page 145 Levitt’s formulation of the reverse theory ( from the biggest organism to the smallest one) that introduced the scientist to be afraid of committing an extraterrestrial murder. About daily events we can say that the H5-N1 influenza stirred as much clamour and terror as the organism “Andromeda”, then who can tell us that in any part of the underground can exist a secret base that studies a remedy for this illness?
