CHAPTER 1

In the charter the first character that we can see is the director (dhc), he is with a newly students "very young,pink and callow" that follow nervously the dhc.

DHC : Is the director of CENTRAL LONDON HATCHERY and CONDITIONING CENTRE. He is a tall and rather thin but upright with a long chin and big,rather prominent teeth. Students have a note-book and write all that director say. - Second character is Henry Foster that works in the fertilizing-room, is meticulous man and speaks very quickly, his eyes are blue and take an evident pleausure in quoting figures. For mr foster is very important to have the director's approval. In the end of the chapter we can see a new character,Lenina, but her description is very short.

In this chapter there are the description of the setting and the BOKANOVSKY process. The dhc tell at the students what kind of work there is in this building.BOKANOVSKY fled egg will bud , will proliferate, will divide, from eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into perfectly formed embryo, and every embryo into a full-sized adult. Making ninety-six human beings grow where only one grew before. This is the progress in the NEW WORLD.

The time is imaginary and it is in a future age with the name :"FORD'S AGE". New world is an imaginary world and the placing is in a places of fantasy,but this have the real nemes that may be found in our world. The principal city is London but a different London from our world. The cities of New World are with big buildings that have many floors,rooms and longs corridor,all is organized with functionality,regularity and order. Building are the images of the progress, stability and balance that compose the New World sayng: COMUNITY,IDENTITY,STABILITY.

BOKANOVSKY PROCESS.

Bokanovsky process provide:artificial insemination in tube,one egg = one embryo = one adult. There are five classes : Alpha and Beta that are the top than there are Gamma, Delta and Epsilon;are inferior. When biological stage is finish there is the psicological and moral construction. This chapter is important because the reader can understand the method on the grounds of it born the citizien of the New World. They are created without love but with an inhuman and cold method. Predestination : they fill alcohol into the bottles with the eggs less alcohol = Alphas or Betas; bottles with more alcohol = Gammas; Deltas or they put the embryo below par to ensure a suitable environment and Epsilons heredity
they also predestinate the eggs with hard x-rays to like hot or for their later jobs cold for their later jobs

The book isn't in first person , there is an impersonal narrative voice that has two

tasks :to describe and to tell the history and a part of the text describes the machineries and the tecnology .

Function of the Chapter:

         Chapter 1 is the introduction into the book and its topic. Here you get to know the most                                                                           important and basic things you need, to understand the book.
        Ideas, like Bokanovskification or Predestination, are described to the reader.
   Besides you get an impression of the place and the setting (the Conditioning Centre) and the     most important characters.

For me the name "Ford's Age" is the simbol of the capitalism that dominate the western society, Huxley see a world where important are the production,econimic advantage and to exploit the inferior classes. I don't like read and to see to strumentalize the human beings.
