drugs are a problem that trouble the whole world. This problem is
narrated in the book of Aldous Huxley called Brave New World. The
first part are presents some themes, both of psychological and
metaphoric nature. Reading the second and third chapter we know
the first typology of travel that is treated by the author. This
drug in Brave New World is named SOMA, and it is a perfect drug,
made from same word state and administered with regularity to
every person since they
were little. One of those travels is narrated by the director,
that is direct of his
students and he speaks of the benefit of soma. The soma unwinds an
important role in the utopian society because introduces
a virtual, imaginary and fanciful world. In this unreal and
irrational world every person experiments his personal experience.
These experiences correspond at the subjunctives reality, with
their conscience. Therefore the reader can be identified with the
one` s necessity too. The soma is considered delicious, excellent,
exquisite, pleasant, agreeable in fact half a gram for a
half-holiday, a gram for a weekend, two grams for a trip to the
gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon. This drug in
Brave New World symbolizes the instrument of evasion from reality,
the creation of the artificial heaven. In a book written by
Piergiorgio Odifreddi a logic-mathematical called THERE WAS A TIME
A PARADOX, he says that there is a tie between drugs and
religion. In fact the chemistry tradition of the mysticism
is very old, and an example of those ties are present also today
with the Mexican peyote, the amazonic ayahuasca, the Hebraic
manna, the Homeric loto, the bacchic wine, and the Indian hemp...Always
in the book ,the writter sais that to see chemistry God is enough
the gas, as narrated by Williams James in WILL OF BELIEVE .Therefore
the electric tradition of mysticism is more young and less
diffuse, needs to stimulate artificially the lobus temporal and
the amygdale,(part of brain where our emotions are situated).Improvises
and unexpected stimulus causes dysfunction of the amygdale, and
with consequent assignment of cosmic valence at objects and banal
things. So in Brave New World for all those motives, the infinites
worlds of soma are the soles that in the novel deserves the
definition of utopian, in fact in etymological sense the word
utopia(EU-TOPOS)represented the place or locality of the happiness.
Today in our society the problems of drugs are heavy and serious,
in fact searching in internet I found an interesting site WWW.DIEL.IT,
and related that the biggest problem is the inability to control
the black and illegal market. Consequently not only the consumers
are in danger, but in general all the society, because those
illness are infect. In the black market and more in general drugs
that come from the street implies certain risks. These risks are
above all depends on the incorrect dosage, and the nasty igienic
condition. In fact, exchanging the syringes, our human body can` t
react with our immunitary defense. In my opinion in our
society drugs are a heavy problem, and I think that the problem
must be resolved at the roots, and need to work in the information
and in prevention as said by Socrate to precede and to inform is
best than to care.
