Huxley
considered ironically Brave New World a perfect world.
The
motto of this utopian world was: Stability, Identity, Community .
This
utopian world is characterized by the controlled human
reproduction, clonation, mind control and hypnosis.
But
is it really a perfect state??
Now
I’ll speak about the comparison about real world and utopian
world.
New
technology
This
book describes a community completely controlled by technological
machines, for example in the first chapter the author describes
the process of the children’s production, and describes a
process completely controlled and developed by machines.
In
this world human reproduction was replaced by the machines, sex
was considered a hobby, a game.
Instead
in our world, technology is a very big and important part of our
world and it's important for people to develop and to get to know
new things.
But the new technology has not
replaced humanity; in fact men control
the machines for the progress and not the machines control
men for their progress.
Is
a world
completely controlled by the machines really a perfect world? Or
is the real world a perfect world, where men control and use the
machines and the new technology for their progress ?
Drugs
In
the Brave New World drugs was a positive aspect, in fact for
resolving their problems or for spending a beautiful day the
people used a new type of drug: SOMA.
For
example when Lenina and Bernard visited the reservation (Brave New
World, chapter 7, page 99), Lenina searched the pocket for her
soma for facing the horror of this Malpais, but she did not find
the pocket because she had left the bottle down at the rest-house.
Bernard’s pockets were also empty.
Drug
was an important method because they could be happy all days.
Instead
drug in our life is a negative aspect, in
fact for our felicity and for resolving our problems we do
not need drugs, but for some people (in our society) the drugs are
very important for resolving their problem,
this method is wrong, because the drugs do not help the
people to resolve their problems but help the people to escape
from their problems.
Was
utopian world the perfect world where the people used drugs (SOMA)
for resolving their problems???? Or is our world a perfect world,
where the people resolve their problems whitout the help of the
drugs??
State’s
conception
In
this world the state was totalitarian, in fact all people
sacrificed themselves in the name of the progress, but is this a
realprogress??
The
people of this utopian society had to give up all emotions, all
sentiments, but above all they had to accept the division in
castes, that limits freedom……..
Is
BNW the perfect world, where all people gave up all sentiments,
all emotions in the name of the progress, and where they were
subdivided in castes at the very moment of their birth??
Clonation
In
the BNW the clonation was considered a normal method for the human
reproduction.
With
the clonation it was possible to subdivide all people in castes;
but with this method all people were identical, and this is a
horrible world. In fact our world is beautiful because is very
various, the variety is very important because without the variety
there is no comparison and it is not possible to make world big,
because it is not possible to compare with a better thing, and
without the comparison there is not an identity, because all
people are identical and then the identity is lost.
Conclusion
In
my opinion BNW is not a real perfect world because in this world
all people use drugs and they are considered a positive aspect of
the society, instead in my opinion the drugs represent a negative
aspect. In fact I think, for resolving the problems and for
spending a beautiful day it is not necessary to take drugs,
because the drugs only help the people to escape from these
problems and do not help them to resolve them.
Another
wrong aspect of the BNW, in my opinion, is that in this world
machines and technology controlled all fields, birth, games,
normal life etc., and the people are controlled by the machines in
the name of the progress. In my opinion men must control
the technology for the progress and not the contrary,
because men use the
machines for creating a new technology and then for their personal
and global progress and comfort.
Moreover
in my opinion it is wrong the complete refuse of the all
sentiments in the name of the progress. Feelings are very
important in our life, and the people in the utopian world were a
sort of robots. Men are real men because they have sentiments and
emotions, while the machines do not have any emotion.
Also
our world isn’t a perfect world, because in our world has many
problems, such as the war, poverty, racism, etc., but I prefer our
world because in this world the people are real persons with
sentiments and emotions, because the people is various, because
the people do not use drugs for resolving their problems, because
in our life the conception of
family is very important and is a positive aspect unlike
the utopian world where the conception of family is a negative
aspect.
In
conclusion I prefer living in my world with its problems
and its defects than living in a prison, because BNW is a prison a
beautiful prison, but it is always a prison.
