In
the list of themes from the book BNW I have chosen
the theme that is, in my opinion ,
one of the strangest ones and the nearest to the book’s
general message: life in a near future. My work is based on a
personal prediction for the future and in particular in the year
2072. Now, after this short introduction I want to show my theses
about it.
I
think that in the year 2072 it will be possible for the human
people to go to the space and travel around it like a simple trip
we can make in our world in the present. So I think that, by using
space shuttles, all the people will land on a lot of planets like
Mars for example or to Europe, one of the satellites of Jupiter.
In fact today
only a a very small number of people (the astronauts) can
travel in the space and only for examining the space facts.
Together with the space travels I imagine that all the people will
use some special machines like little shuttles, by using which we
will be able to travel from our land to the moon in a short time.
From a technological
point of view I think that, according to Huxley, it will be
possible to make a sort of centre of incubation in which the
workers will produce all the lively organs
for each person who will need them. So I think that by
using stem cells each person will have a personal lively organs’
cloning. We will arrange our lively organs, and in the centre
workers will produce cells which will develop into one of the
lively organs we arranged. For example if we need a new stomach we
can arrange it in the centre where there will be its birth. The
name of the centre will be “human
cloning centre”. In the year 2072 I imagine also human-machine
hybrids, in fact I think that if we do not have stem cells we will
be attached to a machine , a sort of robot in which we will enter
and when we will be in it he will start the function of one of our
lively organs that has no more life. I think that in the year 2072
all the men will discover new energy sources and so some
installations will be able to produce in a single palace warmth,
cool and electricity, the “trigeneration1”
installation. But I think that there will be a lot of
changes in the moral point of view ,
I imagine one moral law for all the people and a world in
which there will not be states but only one country, a sort of
“great one2” in which there will be only the
principal rights of human
people.
Today
in politics there are a lot of changes yet, and one of the most
important is the globalisation. Al the people can be connected
by using the
Internet and in a very short time the news go round the
world. So a thing
that is important for one state becomes the same for all
the world. I am thinking of the wars, in which are included all
the nations of the world (the United Nations) and of the economy
that unifies all the world. For example USA is going to makee a
war versus Iraq but they aren’t the only nation of this war
because it involves a lot of other nations that support one of the
two pretenders. So I think that in the future there will be one
political system at the head of the world. Huxley built a perfect
society in his book and some of its considerations are in
accordance with my proposal, but Huxley did not consider the
globalisation and the political control that Orwell described
better than him. However I think that people will be
conscious of their individuality and it is difficult for them to
accept a perfect world like the Huxley one. The universal moral
tells us that human cloning is immoral and from the scientific
point of view it will
produce
not very good persons, but I think that by using stem cells it
will be possible to clone
lively organs for people and I think
that it is not immoral for saving
a person. I am sure that the world in the year 2072 will be
not similar to the one described by me, but I believe that, certainly,
a lot of scientists will discover new energy sources
because the defilement is killing our world and so, in order to
continue living it will be necessary that men discover new sources
(cars that use hydrogen
will come to the streets before 2072) and a lot of nations
are involved in it.
Now,
returning
to the book Brave New World, I can see that a sort of perfect
world will exist in the year 2072 but I think that it will be more
moral than the Huxley one. All the people and their relatives will
live during the future years, because I think that if men have
survived for thousands years they will live also for other 70
years, too, and a lot more. So I think that the battle versus the
“great brother3“ will be won by men, by human moral
men. In the end I want to say that reading this text it seems that
I am an idealist , but this is because I believe in the individual
forces, because even building a perfect state it will not be
possible to destroy the conscience of a man and its rank too and
because these are the universal concepts of human beings.
“Stability4”
said the controller Mustapha Mond in BNW , I think that the
society does not need it because stability seems the death of
emotions, of man. The progress
is based on the ideas of men, if they are stable people
nothing will be born from them.
