Characters
Charlie:
 is the protagonist of this
novel. He lived in a very old home with all his family. In the first chapter we read his
presentation. Charlie is the “hero” but he is very poor boy and lives in a poor family with his parents and
grandparents. Charlie’s life is very hard because his parents have a very low
wage. Some days Charlie doesn’t have a meal and his clothes are dirty and
ruined; his home is very cold for this reason his grandparents sleep together in a
bed.
Charlie is very greedy and he loves CHOCOLATE but he can’t buy that because he
doesn’t have any money. However on his birthdays he gets a bar of
chocolate, so, when this day arrives Charlie is very happy because he can taste some
chocolate.
Mr. Willy Wonka:
is an important character of this story and the protagonist of the stories that Grandpa Joe tells
Charlie. He is the master of the factory. In this factory he makes all kinds of chocolate and some
sweets. For them Charlie and all the children get crazy! When he appears for the first time he wears a black top hat on his head and a tail coat made of a plum-coloured
velvet. His trousers are bottle green and his gloves are pearly
grey. He is a little man with black hair and shining eyes.
Grandpa Joe & Grandma Josephine Grandpa Jeorge & Grandma
Jeorgina:
these are Charlie’s grandparents, the father and mother of
Mr.and Mrs. Bucket. Grandpa Joe before sleeping tells Charlie many stories on Mr. Willy Wonka and his factory. In their home they sleep in the same bed for getting
warmer.
Mr. Bucket: is Charlie’s father. He is the only working person in the family. He works in a toothpaste factory. His job consists of screwing the caps of toothpaste
tubes. His work is very hard and is never paid very much money. With his pay he can buy only simple things like margarine,
potatoes, cabbages.
Mrs Bucket: is Charlie’s mother. She is a housewife and she stays all day at home. Miss Bucket stays at home because she looks after his mother and
father,Grandpa Joe and Grandma Josephine.
Oompa-Loompas:
imported directly from Loompaland, before coming to Willy
Wonka’s factory they lived in the jungle infested by the most dangerous beasts in the world. Oompa-Loompas lived in tree houses to escape from the whangdoodls and hornswogglers and the caterpillar
snozzwangers. The Oompa-Loompas spent every moment of their day climbing through the tree-tops looking for other things to mash up with the caterpillars to make them taste
better. The only food that they loved more than any other is the cacao
bean. But they couldn't get it.
Now the Oompa-Loompas live in the factory and they can have all the cacao beans they
want! They are the small helpers of Mr Willy Wonka to produce his special
chocolate.
Violet:
Miss Violet Beauregarde is a famous girl, she is the winner of the second gold ticket. She she is always chewing a gum, she just adores chewing-gums. She can't do without it. She munches it all day long except for a few minutes at mealtimes when and she takes it out and sticks it behind her ear for safekeeping, then she chews on every moment of the day. When Violet goes in the factory, she eats a special chewing gum, an invention of Mr Willy Wonka. This gum is a complete meal made of tomato soup, roast-beef and cake with cranberry sauce. After Violet eats the gum with the complete meal, she changes her aspect in a big blueberry and she rolls in the room.
Veruca:
she is a little girl living with her rich parents in a not-named place far away from Charlie’s city. She is a small spoilt girl, and because of her being spoilt she forces her father to make all his workers find it by unwrapping thousands of chocolate bars. She is so spoilt that every day her father’s workers didn’t find the ticket she started “kicking and yelling in the most disturbing way”. Obviously nobody likes her and she finds a lot of enemy during the travel in the factory. As every spoilt child she has a bad end: in fact she finish into the rubbish chute after a funny experience with some squirrels.
Augustus:
a nine-year-old boy who is so enormously fat he look as though he had been blown up with a powerful pump. Great flabby folds of fat bulge out from every part of his body, and his face is like a monstrous ball of dough with two small greedy curranty eyes peering out upon the world. The town in which Augustus Gloop live, had gone wild with excitement over their hero.
As you can understand, he is really greedy and because of it he finish into a pipe after he fall into the chocolate
river.
Mike Teevee:
a nine-year-old boy obsesses by the television, he watches it every time and he adores gangsters and westerns films. As the others, he is really spoilt and for this reason he is capture into the television and he became a little tiny boy, smaller than an Oompa-loompa.
