Setting

by Stefano & Alessandro (Italy)

The story is set in Victorian London; the city is described creating a dark atmosphere, with fog, mystery, a continuous sense of suspicion in its inhabitans and creaking doors. The reader gets the impression that the author have walked streets like these, and he describes the buildings,

some showing social advancements, others neglect and decay. The setting could be considered as a real character of the story, that is involved in the evil actions; for

example,

in the beginning scene the brutal Mr Hyde knocks down a small child and disappears immediately into the shadowy London streets, the old black city, with poverty, disease and overcrowding, whose nights are full of alarming silence. I have found some images that effectively describe this characteristics of the setting created by the author.
