Dear
friends, How are you? We are very well. We want to propose to you a very important thing. We would like to speak about our town and tell you what we could do together if you decide to come here, in Carpineto. There are many things that we could do together, and we have already some good ideas. The
town where we live isn't very big but it is beautiful and rich of history.
Carpineto Romano is a small town in the southern part of the province of
Rome, on the Lepini Mountains, near Colleferro. In Carpineto live six
thousand people. It's small, nice and there is only a little pollution. If
you come we could show you our historical centre that is very important,
in fact it is from here that Carpineto was born, and then also because it
is a centre of art. There
are eleven churches: Sant’ Agostino, San Pietro, Collegiata, San
Sebastiano, San Leone, Santa Maria, San Michele Arcangelo, Sant’ Angelo,
Annunziata, San Nicola, San Giacomo and there is Piazza Regina Margherita,
where there is a wonderful fountain. Among
the principal monuments of Carpineto we could see the noble Palace of the
counts Pecci a worthy building of interest and where the Pope Leone XIII
was born. We could also see the various public gardens as for instance
Parco Martiri, called this way in reference to the dead soldiers of our
town in the Second World War (1940-45). Surely you will also like the
public gardens because here we talk, we play and we can spend some time
with our friends. We can play in the games room, watch a film in the open,
we can walk along the streets of the town, read a book in the library, we
can run in mountains or go cycling with our friends. We can play on our
Playstation 2. We can play
football in the football pitch with our friends or we can play basketball
in the gym. But, above all, if you come in August we can see the traditional manifestation of the"Pallio della
Carriera" with the historical
parade of about three hundred people along the streets of the village, in
honour of Donna Olimpia and Aldobrandini, an important character in the
history of Carpineto. In August you will find also some small reastaurants
where we could eat the typical specialties of Carpineto. Please come and
visit us. LOVE FROM ROBERTO, MIRKO, LUCA Old photos of Carpineto Romano.
