What is a computer?

In the five definitions of this unit there are some expressions  that appear different but express similar concepts.
Read
the definitions again and complete the table with the missing expressions.

Definition 1

Automatic electronic apparatus for making calculations or controlling operations that are expressible in numerical or logical terms.

Definition 2

A device that receives, processes, and presents data; the two types are analog and digital. Also known as computing machine

Definition 3

Described in its simplest form, a computer takes information (or inputs), processes it according to a set of instructions (a program), and gives back a result (or output). In this respect, it is very similar to a calculator, but obviously somewhat more complex. The other key characteristic of a computer is that it is a multi-function platform. The same machine can perform many different tasks by using different programs. So, one program (e.g., a word processing application) allows letters or documents to be created, while another program (e.g., a graphics or drawing application) allows images to be created.

Definition 4
A computer is a device that accepts information (in the form of digitalized data) and manipulates it for some result based on a program or sequence of instructions on how the data is to be processed. Complex computers also include the means for storing data (including the program, which is also a form of data) for some necessary duration. A program may be invariable and built into the computer (and called logic circuitry as it is on microprocessors) or different programs may be provided to the computer (loaded into its storage and then started by an administrator or user). Today's computers have both kinds of programming.

Definition 5

A computer is a machine which follows a set of instructions to perform calculations or to store, process, and retrieve information. A sequence of instructions which tells a computer how to do something is called a program. A computer does not think. It only understands a specific program. A computer is not intelligent. However, it can follow instructions very fast. Some computers can perform more than 10 million instructions every second.
