Here is a short list of very useful programmes I have been constantly using since I started considering the Web as a source of materials and ideas for my work. They are not language programmes, only tools to better exploit, handle, and manage the huge amount of material and opportunities offered by the Internet.

http://www.babylon.com (English / Italian dictionary)

http://www.icq.com (With ICQ, you can chat, send messages, files and URL's, play games, or just hang out with your fellow 'Netters' while still surfing the Net)

(WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of Zip files and other compression formats)

http://www.winamp.com (Nullsoft Winamp is the ultimate high-fidelity music player for Windows 95/98/NT)

http://www.spidersoft.com (A fast and easy way to download, store and browse Web sites offline)

http://www.getright.com (a program to help you download files from the Internet. It lets you Pause and Resume your downloads)

http://www.smartlitesoftware.com/e_winask.htm  (Software for creating, managing and analyzing multimedia questionnaires and surveys)

http://web.uvic.ca/hrd/hotpot/ (Software that enables you to create interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web
