Henry's memories
Chapter 1
It was raining
heavily. Henry was stuck in his room. “How tragic,” he
thought. “The first day of the hols and I’m stuck
indoors.” He couldn’t help but feel angry.
He walked downstairs and thought of calling Percy and
Janet, his buddies. Percy always knew what to do.
The phone rang.
“Hello!”
“Henry, it’s Percy here. Hey, my uncle Bob is taking
us for a spin in his new car. Would you like to join us?”
“Percy, you’ve saved my life! Of course I would. Let
me tell my mum and you and pick me up in ten.”
“What a stroke of luck,” Henry thought. He
quickly freshened up and waited.
Henry heard a honk and ran out. He saw Uncle Bob, Percy
and Janet. His jaw dropped as the gleam of the new car
caught his eye. Overcome with excitement, he ran towards
the car, oblivious to the tiny bewildered eyes and
whispering voices of his mother’s rose bushes. As he
approached the car, he had a sudden urge to turn back to
look at the rose bushes. They looked the same as always.
Shrugging it off, Henry slid into the back seat of the
car, alive and animated.
“Did you see that ‘monster’ that just ate Henry?”
squeaked one of the tiny voices from the rose bushes.
“Yes, we must save him!” chirped another.

Chapter 2 B
Leaning forward with
the air-conditioning grazing his face, Henry turned to
stare at the person in the passenger seat next to him.
He was bald with holes for eyes! Henry blinked.
“Hey man, what would you do without me?” a voice
interrupted.
Trying to keep his composure, Henry gave a feeble blink
at Percy, a thanks rolling off his chapped lips.
“So, you haven’t introduced us yet.”
Percy turned to grin at his best friend just as a low
chuckle emitted from Uncle Bob who introduced himself to
Henry. He was in an army uniform and he has an
easy-going smile.
Outside, the pixies with their sharp teeth danced around
the roof of the car with excitement. “Master will
reward us if we bring him back alive.”
“Yes, yes, we must save him,” the creature hissed.
