ROBOT WARS

Have you ever heard the expression "Robot wars"?

Can you imagine what the expression "Robot wars" stands for?

To answer these questions today you have to do some tasks :

Group 1

Read the article from the CNN Website http://www.cnn.com/TECH/9708/26/robot.wars/ and take notes on your copybook about:

- what "Robot Wars" are

- some rules of Robot Wars

- Where they take place

- The inventor of Robot Wars

- the different categories of robots used

Group 2

Read the article from the BBC Website http://www.btinternet.com/~patricks.web/robots/rules.htm

http://www.cpg1.freeserve.co.uk/rules/rules.htm

and take notes on your copybook of all the important information you find

Group3

a) Go to the offical site of Robot Wars http://www.robotwars.com/ and click on the picture on the left (Rules how to build), Then go to the link to become a member of the fan club and......join the club. Fill in the form with name, surname, and an email address. You can use the email address of your English teacher.

b) With the help of your teachers open the letter you will receive in the email account you have written in the application form and read to see what the Robot wars club will communicate you.

c) Now, go back to the home page of the website, www.robotwars.com, click on the big central picture and enter the forum of the official site, read some messages, then write a message in the appropriate thread in which you :

say you are a class of a technical high school, and you are starting a work about robot wars and would like to build a robot at school with the help of your teachers;

ask about how you can start to build a robot and where you can find websites with designs and descriptions of robots already built

ask for information about the rules of the game
